Wolfgang Hofkirchner

Wolfgang Hofkirchner studied Political Science and Psychology at the University of Salzburg where he awarded his Dr.phil. He worked in the field of science-technology-society at the Institute of Socio-Economic Development Research of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and at the Institute of Design and Technology Assessment of the Vienna University of Technology where he taught Informatics and Society and Media Informatics. Since 2004, he is Professor for Internet & Society at the ICT&S Center at the University Salzburg. His current research and teaching focus is: Science – Technology – Society, in particular, Information Society Theory and Foundations of Information Science. He has published 130 contributions including 18 monographs or edited volumes. In 2008 he has organised an international networking meeting in the emerging field of ICTs-and-Society with recognised scholars in this field from all parts of the world.
